5 healthy winter dinners worth staying in for
Winter has a habit of making dinner a choice between something good for you and something you actually want to eat. We’re not particularly interested in making that choice.
So we went looking for healthy winter dinners with enough flavour to earn a place in the regular rotation. The recipes belong to people who know what they’re doing, so we’ll leave the cooking instructions to them and simply point you in the right direction.

1. Chicken, spinach and potato bake
Chicken, potato and a decent amount of greens, all baked together into the kind of dinner that makes sense when it’s eight degrees outside. Healthy Food Guide’s version is high in fibre and takes around 20 minutes of hands-on prep before the oven does the rest.

3. Moroccan salmon traybake
A weeknight dinner with five minutes of hands-on prep gets our attention. Salmon, seasoned vegetables and chickpeas all go into the same tray, which also means there’s considerably less to deal with once dinner is over.

4. Lentil soup
There’s a reason lentil soup comes back every winter, although it deserves better than being treated like the sensible option. RecipeTin Eats builds plenty of flavour into theirs with spices, a slow-cooked vegetable base and lemon at the end, while lentils bring protein and fibre to the bowl.

Dinner handled. Now for the red.
Once dinner’s sorted, we can help with the other half of the equation. Bone Dry Pinot Noir and Shiraz both contain less than 1g of sugar per bottle, with the number printed right there on the label.
